The Hyper Striper is still fishing the reefs down in Cape May. dennis Nalepa of Red Bank weighed in on our scale a 12.5 lb Blackfish on Saturday. He made the trip down to fish with Captain Pete in the sub zero temps. he said that all of the fish were big but not so many as last week. I told dennis that I will be posting a picture on this page so look for the prize winning photo in the next couple of days.

I have seen reports of Bass being caught in the surf on swimming plugs and smaller ones on clams. There have been reports of Bass in the bay but I think that the Ice will put a stop to that. Also the ling fishing is still good on the party boats.

The Hyper Striper was at at it again, but this time in Cape May! Pete had John Matteuchi and Dennis Nalepa of Middletown and Red Bank fish the wrecks with Captain Pete and did a knock-up job once again. John had the pool winner with a 10.5 lb Blackfish and Dennis had a 8.9lb on Saturday. Pete Wagner will be fishing out of Cape May's Harbor View Marina for the month of January (weather permitting). Email me if you are interested in booking your charter and I will pass it on to Pete.

Local action is seeing some of the best ling fishing in a long while. Check out the party boats in Atlantic Highlands harbor. Our dock-master "Big Ed" has some reports of midnight striper action under the Highlands bridge. There have been some mild nights but only the Sea Gulls are braving the elements.

May the fish be with you. Jay@bahrs.com January 5, 2000

Captain Pete Wagner on the Hyper Striper took advantage of the Spring Like conditions over the weekend and loaded up on Blackfish. Fishing the reef w/ green crabs he and his charter limited out on reef dwellers. Pete reported no y2k problems with his trusty g.p.s. to find his favorite piece on the Sandy Hook Reef. The taugs were their usual fiesty selves giving plenty of action for all.

We also had reports of a continuing striper action down south of Monmouth Beaches.

You can check out my weekly updates. I get all of my information first hand and plan to ad daily photos, videos and additional links. Until next time may the fish be with you! Jay
